Wells Fargo is providing $125,000 to the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation through its Priority Market Program. The 2014 Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Priority Markets Program is helping to revitalize neighborhoods by providing support for neighborhood projects, such as the Earth Day Neighborhood Clean-Up.
The clean-up was part of a larger effort to revive the Northwest side of Milwaukee and stimulate economic growth. Along with Wells Fargo, partner organizations for the clean-up include the Northwest Side CDC, Uniting Garden Homes, Inc., Milwaukee Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the 30th Street Corridor Corp., and Clean Wisconsin.
“The commitment of Wells Fargo, not just in terms of manpower for this clean up, but also funding for our housing and workforce project in Garden Homes, greatly increases our collective ability to achieve meaningful, lasting progress in the neighborhood,” said Howard Snyder, Executive Director of Northwest Side CDC.
The clean-up took place on Earth Day, April 22 at Garden Homes Park. Howard Snyder, Demetrius Brown, and Alderman Ashanti Hamilton addressed the crowd, kicking off the event.
