Attention Residents! MPD District meeting schedules (2017)

Attention Northwest Side neighbors and residents: Did you know that our staff NSP Organizers attend monthly Crime and Safety meetings organized by the Districts of the Milwaukee Police Department? These meetings are a great way to meet the people who help address issues and keep the community safe.  MPD Officers, block group leaders, neighborhood associations, and other community organizations all work to collaborate for improved relationships and more effective results.NWSCDC provides staff support for the City of Milwaukee Neighborhood Strategic Planning Areas 1, 3 and 4.  These NSP areas partially overlap with MPD Districts 4, 5, and 7."It can be a confusing jumble of maps, boundaries, and service areas," says Dani Breen, NSP Area 3 Coordinator.  "The important thing for residents to know is that we are here to assist in sorting through the bureaucracy to connect residents with the right resources.""There may be a block watch already formed nearby, or we may know of other neighbors who are interested to get involved on their block," says Barbara Moore, NSP Area 4 Coordinator. "If you don't have an active block group yet, get in touch and we'll help show you how to get started.""Block groups really help strengthen relationships with neighbors," says Dani.  "Neighbors can discuss the issues that are most urgent for their area.  We're always trying to be proactive to share resources and organize cleanup events."NWSCDC will continue organizing community cleanup events while the weather remains warm enough to spend time outside.  Fall is a beautiful time to be outdoors and reconnect with your neighbors.  We hope to see you at an event coming soon!
