SAFE STREETS & TRAIL PLANNING
Prioritizing Community Safety and Health
Moving Forward.
NWSCDC is also working with partners to advocate for streets that are safe for people to use, whether by walking, biking, taking the bus, or driving. We are working to combat reckless driving with the Coalition for Safe Driving MKE.
We’re also committed to increasing access to off-street walking and biking trails. Currently, there is a lack of trails on Milwaukee’s North Side, but several opportunities exist to create safe trails for residents to use for recreation, exercise, and transportation. Two possibilities for future trails are the 30th Street Railroad Corridor (between Havenwoods State Forest and the Menomonee Valley/Hank Aaron State Trail) and the 20th Street utility corridor (between West Olive Street and West Villard Avenue/Meaux Park). NWSCDC will be involved in the planning and community engagement phases of both of these potential trail projects.
