Northwest Side Community Development Corporation Receives $100,000 Grant Award From the U.S. Treasury
Chicago, IL - Monday, July 18, 2011 -- The Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWSCDC) has a won a $100,000 Technical Assistance award from the U.S. Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution Fund. (CDFI Fund)NWSCDC received the award today from the Director of the CDFI Fund Donna J. Gambrell in an award ceremony in Chicago at the Fulton-Carroll Center Small Business Incubator. Assistant Majority leader Dick Durbin, US Senator for Illinois and Congressman Danny K. Davis (7th District, Illinois) participated in presenting the CDFI awards.Director Gambrell presented awards to three Chicago area and five Wisconsin CDFIs and announced awards totaling $142,302,667 for 155 CDFIs serving economically distressed communities across the nation. The organizations awarded are headquartered in 40 states and the District of Columbia.This is the first CDFI award for the NWSCDC since becoming a certified CDFI in December, 2009.
