Sonya Brown has always had a passion for providing high quality care to Milwaukee area children. Mrs. Brown began her business as a home based provider until 2018 when she transitioned to leasing a space located at 4022 N 27th Street. In 2021, Mrs. Brown was notified that the building on 27th Street would be placed under foreclosure. Feeling a sense of urgency to protect her business and continue providing consistent care to the children enrolled at Little Crawlers Daycare, Mrs. Brown placed a winning bid at an August 2021 sheriff’s sale and closed on the property in September. 

Since acquiring the building, Mrs. Brown has exciting plans for the future including improving the condition of her building, growing enrollment and adding new jobs. Mrs. Brown’s unwavering dedication to providing high quality care to neighborhood residents is part of what makes her story so special.

With the technical assistance of NWSCDC and support from her YoungStar Technical Consultant, Mrs. Brown is working to improve the center’s rating, and she’s exploring possible accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
