Financial Literacy Workshop Series for Child Care Providers
NWSCDC is proud to collaborate with Ross Financial, LLC and Providers Taking Action Support Group Phase II (PTA) to offer an informative financial management workshop series to child care businesses operating in Milwaukee!
The four-session workshop series will provide an in depth overview of business financial management. The series is designed to help child care businesses identify financial management practices and tools that are commonly available to a small business, how to apply them, and to understand the impact it has on one’s child care business. Workshop structure: 1.5 hour presentation / 30 minutes open for questions from attendees.

Session 1: Budgeting | June 22nd | 10AM-12PM
The first session will provide participants with the understanding and strategies for effective budgeting, how to apply those budgeting techniques, and the impact a budget has on one’s business. Every participant can leave the course with knowledge of how to draft a budget for their business.
SESSION 2: Bookkeeping | June 29th | 10AM-12PM
The second session will focus on the importance of monthly bookkeeping. Individuals will learn what bookkeeping tasks should be completed each month, enter and post routine financial transactions in QuickBooks, complete their bank reconciliations, and create systems for proper documentation such as receipts, invoices, and timesheets.
SESSION 3: Financial Statements | July 13 | 10AM-12PM
The third session will provide participants with an understanding of the three main types of financial statements. Individuals will learn about components of each statement, working knowledge of what financial information they report, and how to produce a financial statement for their business.
SESSION 4: Tax Preparation | July 27 | 10AM-12PM
The fourth session will focus on the topic of tax preparation. Individuals will learn about the various returns businesses file, tax implications of a business structure, write-offs, deductions available to a business, and the proper financial records needed to file returns accurately.
Important Notes:
Child care providers wanting to register must be operating business owners
Workshop series available for both Family & Group child care providers
Business owners have to attend all workshop sessions in order to receive credit from the Wisconsin Registry
There will be a certificate issued upon completion of the Financial Literacy Series
