Seeking 5,000 Plastic Bottle Caps

ArtWorks for Milwaukee and NWSCDC are collecting 5,000 plastic bottle caps for a youth-led art project at Green Tech Station (4101 N. 31st Street).

Green Tech Station is a partnership of NWSCDC and the City of Milwaukee to transform a vacant brownfield site at 4101 N. 31st Street into a green infrastructure demonstration and environmental education destination. This summer, youth interns will create a bottle cap mosaic at Green Tech Station using plastic bottle caps and other types of hard plastic lids (e.g., peanut butter, mayonnaise, milk, soda, nuts, vitamins, etc.) that will be screwed onto wood panels and mounted on the fence.

Please drop off your clean plastic bottle caps and other hard plastic lids in a sealed bag or container at one of the following locations no later than June 1, 2021:

North Side:

Century City Tower/NWSCDC office - 4201 N. 27th Street. Use front entrance of building between 8am-6pm.

Bay View:

Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative (Bay View) - 2826 S. Kinnickinnic Avenue. Drop off in the bin outside of the store.

Third Ward:

Marshall Building/ArtWorks for Milwaukee office - 207 E. Buffalo Street, #600. Drop off in the bin on the 6th floor right outside of Material Studios.

If you are willing to leave your name and contact information with your donated caps, we will be sure to invite you to the mosaic unveiling event at Green Tech Station later this summer!

If you have any questions, comments, or would like to coordinate other arrangements for dropping off your caps, please contact Sarah Bregant at 414-444-8200 x.8104 or via email at sarah.b@nwscdc.org.

Please note that we are not asking you to use more plastic bottles and containers than you already would be using - we’re just asking that you save your caps and lids for our exciting project. Thank you!
