NWSCDC to Host Event Honoring Alan Perlstein

Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWSCDC) is hosting their annual summer event on Tuesday, September 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Milwaukee County Historical Center on Old World Third Street overlooking Pere Marquette Park. Special guests will include Mayor Tom Barrett. Each year, the NWSCDC hosts an annual summer event to honor an individual who has contributed significantly to the success of the organization and improved the lives of residents on the Northwest Side of Milwaukee. This year’s event will honor Alan Perlstein, who recently ended his 11th and final year of service on the NWSCDC Board of Directors. Mr. Perlstein also continues to serve on the organization’s Loan Committee. He is also a founding member, Executive Director, and CEO of the Mid-West Energy Research Consortium (M-WERC). He is being recognized for his leadership on the NWSCDC’s Board as well as being a proponent for economic growth and workforce development on the Northwest Side of the city.As a former executive for DRS, Mr. Perlstein worked with the NWSCDC on an expansion project to hire individuals from Northwest Side neighborhoods for newly created positions; three of those individuals still work at DRS today. Mr. Perlstein was also instrumental in saving Century City Tower and turning it into the Energy Innovation Center, an accelerator for businesses in the Energy, Power, and Controls Technology industry cluster. The offices of the NWSCDC and M-WERC are both housed in Century City Tower, further cementing the ongoing economic development partnership."Alan Perlstein was and is, one of those once-in-a-lifetime business people that comes along and changes a community. At DRS, he risked a lot to make his company an anchor institution on Milwaukee's North Side, and he succeeded. M-WERC, under his leadership, is growing the economic base of Milwaukee. Very few people get to do that in the history of a city. Alan is one of those. We are proud to be associated with him, and with M-WERC,” said NWSCDC executive director, Howard Snyder.Event sponsors include Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., General Capital, DRS, and Jonco Industries.   Tickets and sponsorships are still available to attend the event.
