Welcome Barbara Nuell-Moore!

Many residents and community partners in the NSP Area 4, which includes Garden Homes, Century City Tri-Angle, Franklin Heights and nearby areas have already met our newest staff member, Mrs. Barbara Nuell-Moore.  On behalf of the team at NWSCDC and all our partners, we want to say, "Welcome Barbara!"Since starting in the NSP Coordinator role on July 10, Barbara has already made a big impression connecting with residents.  Reflecting on her first month working with NWSCDC Barbara says, "I haven't even had a Saturday off!"  Working with neighborhood groups has been keeping her very busy, and lots of activities in August will continue to keep her schedule full.  She is already working with a resident group to form a community garden, helping a few resident groups organize block parties, talking with numerous residents about health and safety, and helping prepare for the District 5 National Night Out on August 31.Barbara brings a wealth of community organizing experience to her new role, including previous NSP work and leading Project Respect.  Her previous positions focused on the Amani neighborhood, right next door to the NSP Area 4 where she lives and now works.  We're very excited that Barbara is both a resident and an expert community organizer. After meeting with multiple neighborhood groups and block clubs this past month, Barbara reflects that "people want a safe neighborhood, and just need some direction."  She also says, "It's exciting to learn about the collaborations and groups" which make the neighborhoods in NSP Area 4 a strong community with many resources and amenities for residents. We knew Barbara would be a valuable addition to the NSP team, and this was further confirmed when she joined the Promise Zone Bike Ride in June.  See a few photos of Barbara and other riders below.  And say Hi to Barbara when you see her in the neighborhood!
